Elevating Care, Expanding Access: Behavioral Health Milestones at CaringWorks

By Nadine Oldham, LCSW, MAC
Behavioral Health Clinical Director, CaringWorks

Recent updates in our Behavioral Health program underscore both the quality of care being delivered and the expanded access now available to CaringWorks clients and the broader community.

The program recently earned a near-perfect score — 99 — on its latest Medicaid audit. Conducted by Georgia Collaborative Administrative Services Organization (ASO) at the request of the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD), these audits are required evaluations that assess Medicaid providers’ clinical practices, systems, and compliance with regulatory standards. A score of 99 reflects CaringWorks’ commitment to delivering services that not only meet — but surpass — established benchmarks.

In addition, CaringWorks is now a Medicare-certified provider of behavioral health services. This milestone expands access for current and prospective clients who rely on Medicare coverage, allowing more individuals — specifically seniors — to receive critical mental health and recovery support.

Today, nearly 75% of CaringWorks clients are engaged in behavioral health services, whether through CaringWorks directly or in partnership with external providers. This level of engagement reflects an essential truth: addressing homelessness is about more than providing a roof overhead. By strengthening quality standards and broadening access, CaringWorks continues to prioritize whole-person care — recognizing that behavioral health and housing stability are deeply connected.
