Determination and New Possibilities
Client spotlight: Yvonne B.
When Yvonne B. reflects on her journey, one word comes to mind: determination.
While experiencing homelessness, she remained committed to her education, attending classes and ultimately earning a degree despite the challenges she faced along the way.
“I was determined,” she said. “It was something that I really wanted to do. I was not going to let anything stop me, regardless of what I was going through.”
That same determination continues to guide her today. With stable housing and support through CaringWorks, Yvonne has been able to focus on the future, pursuing entrepreneurial goals that include developing digital resources and working on writing and publishing projects.
She credits her progress not only to hard work, but also to the people who encouraged her along the way.
“It’s very refreshing to know that even though you are struggling, there is still help out there,” she said. “There are people and organizations that will help you.”
Yvonne also draws strength from her close-knit family, who have continued to encourage her through difficult seasons and celebrate her successes.
Looking back on her experience, she hopes others who are struggling will not be afraid to ask for help.
“You’ve got to tell people what you need and what you’re going through. Somebody is going to hear you and point you in the right direction.”
Yvonne believes programs like CaringWorks are vital because homelessness can happen to anyone and people experiencing it deserve the opportunity to improve their circumstances.
“They just need help.”
Today, Yvonne continues working toward her goals with the same perseverance that carried her through some of life’s most challenging moments—proof that with determination and support, new possibilities can emerge.
