Program & Team Spotlight: MOVE

This month’s program spotlight covers our family programs, MOVE DeKalb (39 units at an apartment complex in DeKalb County) and MOVE Fulton (18 units across two apartment complexes in Fulton County). MOVE Director Dornisha Freeman shares a few updates.

What are some updates at MOVE DeKalb?

We are working to increase engagement with our clients and we recently held a “Meet Our CPS” session so families could come talk with our Certified Peer Specialist about what kind of programming and offerings they’d like to see. We aim to start monthly skill-based activities such as parenting skills classes, financial literacy classes and more.

We were excited to partner with Callanwolde Fine Arts Center this week on a Mother’s Day event at the Center which included a dance activity and pottery class for some of the moms in our program. The Center did something similar during the holidays and we appreciate their continued support for CaringWorks.

Are there any updates at MOVE Fulton?

I’m pleased to report that three clients increased their income through employment and benefits! I’m also excited to welcome a new part-time staff member to the MOVE Fulton team.

Are there any team members you want to recognize?

I want to give a shout out to Care Coordinator Erica Wallace for helping with both programs when we had a vacancy at MOVE Fulton. And, I continue to be proud of the positive impact that the MOVE team and our agency have on families by affording them an opportunity to rebuild their lives.
