Umbrella from the Rain

At just 15 years old, Martha Maxey ran away from home. By age 17, she was addicted to drugs. Years later and after a life-changing diagnosis, Martha decided to get help.

“I found out I was HIV positive, and I knew I needed to change my lifestyle,” she said.

She was connected with CaringWorks and has been clean for 16 years.

“CaringWorks was my umbrella from the rain and my safe haven.”

Martha credits the success of her journey to the support of her counselors and care coordinators at CaringWorks. Now she shares her experiences to inspire and help others.

“My struggles and challenges have given me a more positive outlook on life,” she said. “God took me out of the darkness and saved me from my past.”
