Reflecting on the Future

Andre H. was only 16 years old when he was kicked out of his home. He tried anything he could to escape being homeless, including moving to Texas with a friend he met after leaving home. When that arrangement didn’t work, he moved back to Georgia where he became homeless, and he encountered another significant challenge: drugs.

Being homeless and on drugs left Andre more vulnerable to violence. He was attacked and ended up in a coma for nearly a month. Though he’s still grappling with the long-term physical and emotional effects of the attack, Andre is on a path of recovery thanks to the support he is now receiving from CaringWorks.

“CaringWorks provided a roof over my head and a space to reflect on my future,” Andre said.

After being homeless for more than a decade, Andre finally has stability with a safe place to live and support services to help him rebuild his life. He is grateful for the care and compassion of his CaringWorks program manager, and through his journey Andre has also improved his relationship with his father, who has become an important support system.
